If you are looking at purchasing real estate you may have wondered who pays for the Realtors commission.  Is it the Buyer, Seller or Both?

In short, the Seller pays the real estate commission and the Buyer does not pay commission.

The commission amount for the Realtor representing the Buyer or Buyers Agent is decided between the Seller and the Listing agent. The commission amount is a percentage of the final property sale. A portion of the commission is paid to the Listing Agent and paid to the Buyers Agents Brokerage. The Brokerage then pays the Buyers Agent a commission.

The Buyer will be provided documents that disclosure that a commission is being paid to the Buyers Agent along with the amount of commission. The Buyer will need to sign the commission disclosure document.
